Shahid Afridi and Wasim Akram Play Double Wicket Tournament

Boom Boom Shahid Afridi and Wasim Akram participated in double wicket cricket tournament few years back. This format of game was introduced by Pakistan way back in late 90’s where two players of every international cricket team participated in it. The home side had two pairs while other teams were allowed only one pair in the tournament.

Double wicket tournament had different and unique rules as compare to One Day International or Test Format. Ten runs were deducted from the total of team once the batsman got out while every wide or no ball added two runs to the total. Eleven fielders had to field in the ground from both sides of the teams while only participants were allowed to bowl in the match.

Due to reputation of hitting massive sixes, the management of PCB decided to make pair of Shahid Afridi with legendary Wasim Akram for the tournament. In the past both players played together in that format and they had no problem while playing each other. King of Swing was the captain of the team while Boom Boom Afridi played as player.

The price money of double wicket tournament was quite good for the winners and on every single boundary or wicket the play was rewarded with money as well. The rewards in the tournament pushed the players to play aggressively throughout the match and provided brilliant entertainment to spectators. The crowd came in the stadium to watch the interesting and shortest format in large number.

Shahid Afridi and Wasim Akram dominated throughout the double wicket tournament and became champions. Both players outclassed the opponents with aggressive game plan and did not let them play their natural game. Boom Boom Afridi had won most of the rewards in the tournament as he hit most of the boundaries and sixes as compare to any other batsman.
