Boom Boom Afridi smashed the cricket ball out of the stadium against South Africa in an ODI match. He picked the slower ball of Lonwabo Tsotsobe quickly and applied his full power to smash it over long on. It flew away miles over the building of stadium and the ball went in the parking area where a security guard threw it in the playing ground.
Probably it was the longest six in the history of cricket hit by Boom Boom Afridi. The six was the reply to left arm bowler Lonwabo Tsotsobe who hit bouncer to batsman although the green shirts lost the match. The batsman entertained the spectators and hit few brilliant shots all over the park of African ground.
South African bowlers crushed the batting line of green shirts badly and did not allow any of the batsmen to play his natural game even though the pitch suited batsmen more than bowlers in both innings. The poor shot selection and poor planning of run chase let them down in the crucial match and they collapsed very early. Therefore Afridi had to come for batting while so many overs were left.
No doubt Boom Boom Afridi is a very dangerous player and he can turn around the game any day but if the situation does not suit him then he too cannot help the team either. Same happened in match against South Africa and he started to hit the ball out of the park while wickets continued to fall at the other end.
So it was obvious that after few shots and massive sixes Boom Boom Afridi won’t be able to handle the pressure. Nine wickets were down and so many runs were required on fewer balls when he smashed the longest six of his career but he could not save his team from defeat as well.
